About the Role:

As a Government Sales Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to drive product sales and develop business relationships with government Companies at the local, state, and federal levels. You will work closely with government officers, decision-makers, and other stakeholders to understand their requirements and position our products as solutions that meet their needs. Your role will involve a combination of sales, account management, and business development activities.

Position overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and results- driven Software Sales Specialist to help us build a dynamic sales team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth by effectively promoting and selling our software solutions to potential clients. As a software Sales Specialist, you will play a crucial role in expanding our customer base, building strong 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement a sales strategy to effectively sell products to government agencies. Identify target agencies, understand their purchasing processes, and position our products as viable solutions.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within government agencies. Attend industry events, conferences, and meetings to network and build rapport with potential customers.
  • Product Presentations: Conduct product presentations and demonstrations to government agencies. Clearly communicate the features, benefits, and value propositions of our products, tailored to the specific needs of each agency.
  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with the sales team to prepare and submit comprehensive proposals in response to government solicitations and requests for proposals (RFPs). Ensure compliance with all procurement guidelines and deadlines.
  • Account Management: Nurture existing government accounts and identify opportunities for                upselling and cross-selling. Understand their evolving needs and provide exceptional customer   service to maintain long-term relationships
  • Market Research: Stay updated on government policies, regulations, and initiatives that impact our products or present new business opportunities. Monitor competitors’ activities and identify strategies to stay ahead in the market.
  • Reporting and Forecasting: Maintain accurate sales records, including customer interactions, pipeline management, and revenue forecasting. Provide regular reports to management on sales performance and market trends.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of 5+ years in software sales or business development roles, preferably in the B2B software industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Strong knowledge of software sales methodologies, including solution selling, consultative selling, and value-based selling.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and understand client needs, pain points, and business challenges, and propose tailored software solutions to address them.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and target-driven, with a strong desire to succeed in a competitive sales environment.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and sales automation tools for efficient pipeline management and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with crossfunctional teams to achieve sales objectives.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of software market dynamics, trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet with clients and attend industry events.
